Winter Knitwear Trends 2011/12

Winter is upon us, which means that now is the time to get your wardrobe into shape for the cold weather. Covering up, however, doesnt mean that you have to look frumpy.

Heritage

One of the key trends this season is the heritage look. Go for chunky cable knit sweaters, riding boots and elbow patches for a look that is bang on trend. 

Colours

Go back to nature, with natural shades such as charcoal grey, moss green and bright orange. These are the colours that will be common across all knitwear collections this season. 

Chunky patterns

Dont be afraid to go for a retro, chunky pattern, the chunkier the better! Following on from last year, the trend with be tribal and alpine prints and for the most bold and daring amongst you, stripes and rainbow prints, perfect if you want to make a statement. 

Oversized V-neck sweaters

The v neck is set to be one of the biggest trends in sweaters this season. Go for bright colours and stripes and either dress up with a skirt, or down with a pair of skinny jeans. 

Cowl neck sweaters

The draped neckline of a cowl neck sweater is a flattering look for most women, which means that this is an item which will be very much in demand this season. 

Long cardigans 

A statement piece from last year that is set to take the catwalk by storm once again in 2012. The long cardigan is flattering for almost all body shapes and paired with a stylish top and a large belt, its a look that is perfect for all occasions.
