THE Gaelic feis is coming to town.
Supported by Feisean Nan Gaidheal, the Scottish Arts Council, the Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Perth and Kinross Council, and with the backing of Blairgowrie and Rattray Regeneration Company, a great opportunity will arise on Saturday, May 23, for young people to enjoy a day learning new skills in the world of music and drama.
Short tutorial lessons will be given in fiddle, clarsach, drama, singing, chanter, bodhran, accordion, keyboard, whistle, and step dancing.
Those taking part will be able to choose any three of the skills on offer and the cost for the day will be just £3 with most instruments being provided free.
It is not necessary to speak Gaelic to take part but as the Gaelic language is an important part of our culture and heritage, everyone will get a taste of the language in a fun but interesting way.
Supervisers will be in attendance and participants are asked to take a packed lunch. Refreshments will be provided at break times.
This first event of its kind in Perth and Kinross will take place in Rattray Primary School from 9.30am to 4.30pm approximately.
Subject to demand there could be further workshops in the various disciplines throughout the year.
