THE fishing on Lintrathen Loch improved greatly over last week.
The water temperature is up and fish are moving on the surface most days and evenings.
On days when fish are not visible they have been taken within two to three feet from the surface.
Sunday evening saw the final of the Lintrathen Club championship when the competitors enjoyed a fine and calm night’s fishing.
The fish were well up and most were taken on sink tips or floaters. Light coloured damsels, crunchers, and buzzers were the best flies.
The trophy was won by Alec Ewart (Kirriemuir) with five fish at 8lb 10oz, second was Willie Milligan (Kirriemuir) with three fish at 5lb 2oz, followed closely in third place by Paul McMillan (Kirriemuir) with three fish at 5lb exactly.
Club results – Rainbow AC 6 boats, 23 fish, 44lb.
Individual boats – Messrs Martin, Robertson, Smith (Invergowrie) 9 fish, 18lb 6oz; John Browning and Duncan Campbell (Glenisla) 7 fish, 13lb 4oz; Tom Melville 5 fish, 11lb; Stewart Ferrier (Ardler) 5 fish, 11lb 4oz; Andy Lawrie and Jim Anton (Banchory) 5 fish, 9lb 14oz; I. Robertson and D. Lennon 4 fish, 7lb.
