BLAIRGOWRIE Rams teams in three age groups headed to Glenrothes at the weekend for the latest in their away fixtures.
With last week’s victorious Micros staying at home this week, it was up to the P4/5, P6/7 and S1/2 teams to fly the Blair Rams flag in Fife.
The P4/5 team played two games against their Glenrothes counterparts. They tackled and passed well and although Aedan Milne made some fantastic runs Glenrothes won 6 -4. The second game was just as close. Captain Patrick Damodaran spotted gaps in the home side’s defence and scored two tries and Blair went on to win 5-4.
It was a similar story in the P6/7 age group, with Blair losing the first game to a strong defensive Glenrothes side. The Rams played well together as a team, however, with try scorers Alistair Cooper and Austin Barrie both making lots of breaks throughout the match. The second game saw Blair fair better, winning 8-2 with tries from Fergus Barron, Callum Dawson, Fraser Stewart, Austin Barrie and Henry O’Connell.
The S1/2 game saw another emphatic victory for the Rams, with a final score of 31-4.
Coach Billy Campbell said: “The team has done really well. They worked well as a team and their fitness really showed with great tackling, good rucking and lots of support.
“The first 20 minutes was fairly evenly matched and Glenrothes is one of the best teams they are going to play at the moment but eventually they just ground them down and went on to win.”
