BLAIR-based Provost Liz Grant was very proud to welcome Her Majesty the Queen to Perth last week.
She said: “This visit is of great significance, signalling the awarding of city status to Perth. The Diamond Jubilee celebrations were a huge success, with thousands of residents and visitors enjoying a spectacular day, and we are delighted that the Queen has chosen to visit the area in her Jubilee year.”
East Perthshire residents travelled through to the Fair City to catch a glimpse of the Queen and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, who became the first people to be honoured with keys to and freedom of Perth since city status was officially reinstated.
Speaking to the Blairie, one said: “It was wonderful. I first saw the Queen when I was a little girl and she was on her Coronation tour of Britain so I really wanted to see her again on this celebration tour of her Diamond Jubilee. I expect we have both seen quite a few changes in those sixty years.
“My grandson and I had a very good view and really enjoyed our day out. “
