A NEW event for dog owners and children is to be held in the Wellmeadow this Sunday, July 15.
Paws in the Park promises to be a fun and educational day for families and dog lovers. There will be competitions and a range of advice and information on dog care subjects such as training, grooming, and health.
The event has been organised by Kia Mathieson, the owner of two working spaniels. She said: “I love dogs and feel strongly people should have a responsible attitude to dogs and if we educate children that dogs give so much and can be so rewarding if they are properly trained. If we can get a bond and training between a child and their dog at an early age then there will always be a great relationship between the child and the dog.
“This event is all about raising awareness of the training and dog care facilities available in East Perthshire. Absolutely everything that an owner would need is available in the area.
“It is the first event of its kind here in Blair. It is organised by Blairgowrie and East Perthshire Tourism Association and aims to contribute to raising the profile of the area as a destination that has much to offer locals and visitors alike.”
Some of the local service providers who will be at the event include trainer Kairyn Beatson who will be bringing dog agility equipment and teaching children and their dogs how to use it, K9 Cuts, Blairgowrie Vets, Suzanne Barclay who provides massage for pets, dog walker and sitter Lynsey Aisle, a face painter who will paint your child’s face to look like their dog, and working huskies and a sled.
Paws in the Park takes place in the Wellmeadow from 12-3pm on Sunday July 15. Entry to the Wellmeadow is free. If anyone would like to volunteer to help out on the day, please let Kia know. She can be contacted at Meikleour Hotel on 01250 883206.
