Coupar Angus marksman in the running for top award

AN EAST Perthshire resident has been shortlisted for a top sporting award.

James Paterson, a Glenalmond College student whose family home is at Gartlochbank, Coupar Angus, is one of three athletes in the running for the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) ‘sportsman of the year’ gong.

The marksman has appeared 35 times for Scotland at various shooting events, and was included in a party that appeared at the recent Commonwealth championships in Delhi.

James will be among several athletes appearing at an awards ceremony during the British Universities and College’s ball, which takes place tomorrow (Thursday) at Keele University.

The evening will be presided over by BBC sports reporter Rob Walker, and England rugby star Josh Lewsey.
