Awards For All give money to East Perthshire organisations

AWARDS For All grants to organisations in East Perthshire have been welcomed by North Tayside MSP John Swinney.

He especially welcomed the news that three organisations throughout North Tayside have been successful in securing the highest levels of funding available in the total of £64,400.

Awards for All gives grants of between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment, and health in the local community.

It is hoped that Awards for All will lead to better opportunities for all involved, a greater sense of community in the area where the money is invested allowing the community to tackle inequalities, and that better and more sustainable services and environments.

The successful applicants included:

l Airlie Primary School received a grant of £10,000, which will be used to purchase thermoplastic markings for the installation of an outdoor adventure trail in the school playground.

l Blackwater Public Hall received £8300, which will provide a new roof to improve the facility and benefit all who use it.

l The Tuesday Club of Meikleour received £2070 which will allow the group to run a residential weekend for their members, who are young people over the age of 12 years with learning difficulties.

l Atholl and Breadalbane Agricultural Society has recently received £7000 to allow the purchase a portable office and steel store to safely store the organisation’s equipment and to enable the group to offer a more professional service.

Mr Swinney said: “I am positively delighted to see that so many groups and organisations have been successful in this round of funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All scheme.

“This is a great feat and the funding secured is a testament to the hard work and dedication and investment of time by all those involved.

“I note that a number of the organisations received the highest levels of funding available.

“Awards for All is an initiative designed to improve the community, to bring people together, and to support them as they improve their area.’’
