Plans for community engagement to be looked at

PLANS to expand community engagement work throughout Perth and Kinross, as part of the council's cultural planning programme, will be considered at a meeting of the lifelong learning committee on Wednesday this week (October 28).

A wide range of events are planned to take place across Perth and Kinross for Perth 800.

These include Dougie MacLean performing at Clunie on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 2-4.

Dougie's concerts in Clunie Village Hall on the Easter weekends in 2007 and 2008 were sold out in advance.

Audiences travelled from the USA, England and Germany, as well as from nearby farms and towns, to enjoy the internationally renowned singer-songwriter performing in the intimate setting of one of the village halls that he frequented as a child growing up in Perthshire.

The report to lifelong learning is about the council's cultural planning programme and the community engagement process as part of the programme. The committee will be asked to agree that further community engagement takes place to cover the whole of Perth and Kinross. The detailed programme of community engagement events and where these will take place is still to be finalised.
