Blairgowrie bike victim

THE man killed in a car-motorbike smash on the A93 Perth-Blairgowrie road on Friday has been named by police as 27-year-old David James Guthrie, of Cedar Drive, Blairgowrie.

He sustained fatal injuries in the accident which happened about 1.30pm, at the junction with the unclassified road leading to St Martins.

A black Volkswagen Golf had been travelling on the A93 from Perth towards Blairgowrie and was turning right, into the St Martins road, when it was struck by a purple and yellow motorcycle travelling in the same direction .

It is understood that a number of cars may have been on the A93 at the time and may have been overtaken by the Volkswagen car or the motorcycle, in the area known as Strawberry Fields, which is situated between Guildtown and Perth.

Tayside Police are keen to speak to any person who may have seen the Volkswagen or the motorcycle on the road at the relevant time and would ask them to contact 0300 111 2222

Officers would also like to speak with a female nurse who administered first aid to Mr Guthrie at the scene of the crash. She was driving a small red car.
