Pupils learn art of noise

ENVIRONMENT Service officers visited schools in Perth and Kinross as part of Noise Action Week 2009.

They were teaching the children about the issue of neighbour noise.

During the visit to Rattray Primary School, officers gave a presentation to the children about the different aspects of the issue and the measures that can be taken to prevent noise problems.

The pupils then also had the chance to take part in a special quiz about neighbour noise.

Community Safety Vice-Convener Councillor Elspeth Maclachlan presented prizes of £20 and £10 book tokens to the winners and runners-up from each school.

Councillor Maclachlan said: “I am pleased that our officers visited schools during this year’s Noise Action Week to speak to them about neighbour noise.

It is important that we all understand the problems that noise can cause, how we can reduce the noise we make, and how we approach people whose noise affects us.”

The winners and runners-up, who were accompanied by their teachers and parents are: Rattray Primary – Eilidh Gillian Smith (winner); Rosie Aitken (runner up) – pictured.
