A FANTASTIC new book featuring the beauty of Blairgowrie and the surrounding countryside has just been published.
‘A Portrait of Blairgowrie and surrounding areas – An Artist’s View’ is the work of John Halvorsen, who was guest of honour at a special book signing at The Bookshop in Leslie Street just before Christmas.
Originally from Dundee, John is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, where he qualified with an honours degree in Illustration and printmaking in 1998.
Having lived in and around Blairgowrie for more than 25 years, he seeks to portray his love for the area through his artwork.
The book contains over 200 colour illustrations as well as almost 80 black and white images covering such subjects such as Blair Live, Braemar Night, Blairgowrie Highland Games and the Mills of the Ericht.
Some of the other areas covered in the book include Dunkeld, Stanley Mills, Meikleour, Coupar Angus, Alyth, Kettins, Meigle and Newtyle.
This is the artist’s first publication and the first time in 10 years that his work has been seen by the public.
