Alyth Community Council looking for local designers to create new award

ALYTH Community Council is looking for local designers to enter a competition to design a new award for the Voluntary/Community Group of the Year.

Each year the community council in Alyth makes an award to the Citizen of the Year and the Young Citizen of the Year.

This year, the community council is also planning to make an award to the Voluntary/Community Group of the Year as there are over 50 such groups in the town.

Chair of Alyth Community Council, Sanjay Samani, said: “The community council was left £1,000 in a bequest from Mary Ross.

“We are planning to use £750 of that bequest to commission the design and manufacture of the award to be presented as a trophy annually to the Voluntary/Community Group of the Year in recognition of their achievements and service to the community of Alyth.

The competition is open to anyone who lives and/or works in Alyth or who can prove personal and/or historical connections to the town. Design submissions must include:

No more than 500 words about the creative concept and its connection with Alyth and its community and show where a plaque for inscriptions would be situated;

No more than three photographs or drawings of the creative concept visualised;

The expected fee/honorarium for the design if chosen, plus an estimated budget for creation. Both the fee/honorarium and estimated budget for creation (which can include identified ‘help in kind’ from suppliers) should not exceed the budget of £750.

The competition opened on June 1 and closes August 1, 2012. A decision will be taken on the winning design by the end of August 2012.

Any submission made after August 1 will not be eligible.

Designs should be submitted by email to Alyth Community Council at AlythCommunityCouncil@pkc.gov.uk
